Classical Academic Portrait on Easel

An academic approach to painting requires a prolonged agenda although the principles, elements and design of an inviting painting remain the same. Unlike plein air, alla prima or other studio works of art, paintings done in the style of the old masters require several applications of oil paint and glazes. PLEIN AIR ARTIST GROUP from Johnson Mill Show Sept 16, 2011

We have a fun time with the artists at the Johnson Mill Show. Pictured at the end of the day are: Tom Howard, Diane Turner, Steve McGinty, Rebecca Hartvigsen, Susan Gallacher,David Koch and David Dean. None were discouraged by the pouring rain although all the easels set up definately got a good washing! Thanks for the support.
